January 2002

  • 1-2 The two extremes of hatred in Furriston's world have their say
  • 1-4 A dapper elderly feline takes the loud ursine to task
  • 1-7 The feline turns out to be Devon Lynxen, who formerly co-owned Bev's cafe
  • 1-9 Penance races out of a meeting to catch a glimpse of Joleen
  • 1-11 Penance muses sadly over the limitations of traditional courtship, when Fate steps in to aid him
  • 1-14 The sociopolitical sparks fly in Bev's cafe. Penance is patient...
  • 1-16 The loud ursine proves the truth of the old saying 'The empty wagons make the most noise'
  • 1-18 Penance pleads his case to Devon, and Devon's reply - for a moment - dashes Penance's hopes. But not for long!
  • 1-21 But what's this? Penance may not rely upon tradition at all! He must woo Joleen himself?!
  • 1-23 Penance quails at the thought of abrogating tradition... but to win Joleen, he will do it! (And then, guess who walks into Bev's cafe?)
  • 1-25 Apparently, Penance discovered that he didn't need to rely upon tradition to woo Joleen
  • 1-28 Devon takes his leave... as Bev's own painful secret returns...
  • 1-30 Bev sorrowfully prepares to take medication when there is a sound from the storeroom. Some bread has been eaten and the back door is standing open...

    February 2002

  • 2-1 Bev investigates to see who could have eaten the bread - it turns out to be one of the shadow people, whom Bev urges not to run away
  • 2-4 Rather than have the elder mother steal food, Bev gives her bread and milk - she has plenty of food to spare
  • 2-6 Seeing the furtive and fearful nature of the elder mother reminds Bev of her own victimized past
  • 2-8 Bev is snapped out of her reverie by the elder mother's departure - but not before her showing her gratitude
  • 2-11 Bev discovers just how profound the elder mother's gratitude is...!
  • 2-13 A new day dawns, and with it a new radio broadcast - Bob O'Link interviews Cotton Taylor
  • 2-15 Bob sets the deceptive tone for all the interviews that will follow
  • 2-18 As Bob manipulates Cotton's reactions, the broadcast is heard in both Furriston and Bridgeway
  • 2-20 I'Brolent relieved Ted's sentry duty on the Northside
  • 2-22 Ted relays the info that the shadow people's elder mother has not yet been found - which they begin to feel may not matter anyway
  • 2-25 Bob O'Link continues to twist Cotton's words
  • 2-27 Cotton begins to clarify his position when time (conveniently) runs out

    March 2002

  • 3-1 The effects of Cotton's broadcast are felt all over Furriston...
  • 3-4 ...and generate events by Michael Alan Avariss in Bridgeway as well!
  • 3-6 In Canovia, Tavatiana attempts to reach Cotton, but his sudden fame keeps him too busy to hear her...
  • 3-8 Devon Lyxnen withdraws his support of FURadio after the broadcast - which can now be seen to be the direct machinations of a not-so-wacky Bob O'Link
  • 3-11 Rollie Rollimann is met by Avariss' drone Fomhault Plebe, beginning the first stage of Avariss' plan
  • 3-13 Bob warns Rennie that his loyalty had better be unwavering in his master plan for Cotton's broadcasts
  • 3-15 Cotton, still a little uneasy over how his last broadcast went, attempts to make his position absolutely clear - but his statement never makes it to the airwaves!
  • 3-18 Lloyd is visited by his former friend, the hater bear, who has become bolder by the prevailing emotions in Furriston
  • 3-20 Fomhault seeks Rollie's (unknowing) assistance in carrying out Avariss' plans
  • 3-22 Avariss is certain Rollie will play the role that he has plotted
  • 3-25 Rollie contacts the younger Avariss in Furriston with the news
  • 3-27 Steven ruminates over his father's plans
  • 3-29 Steven and his young friends mock the self-righteous posturing of the hater bear

    April 2002

  • 4-1 Gene fails in his attempts to get the shadow-people scanner working, and with Tavie's aid he discovers why it won't work right
  • 4-3 The scanner, having achieved awareness, cannot bear the pain it senses in the beings it was designed to locate, and asks if their 'protection' is no longer the real motive
  • 4-5 Gene concedes the device's right to make its own decision, but Tavie brings up the point that Cotton doesn't know about the shadow people yet
  • 4-8 At the Church of the Creator of All Things, a new hate group, led by repositor Borzoi, invades the rescue mission
  • 4-10 Parson Bedford confronts the haters
  • 4-12 Having acieved their goal of inspiring fear, the haters withdraw
  • 4-15 The hater bear, though he did not participate in the incident at the mission, is shunned for his beliefs
  • 4-17 Borzoi, not expecting to be caught yet, returns to his BII office - and is confronted by his co-repositors, who have found him out
  • 4-19 CW discovers that Borzoi does not know about Cotton's ability
  • 4-22 CW relays her findings to Gene. In the fountain in the park.
  • 4-24 Roger Tuska and his family attend services at the Church of the Creator of All Things
  • 4-26 A sign goes up on the Furriston skyline that defies belief - Avariss Industries
  • 4-29 Alice and Lloyd observe the latest changes

    May 2002

  • 5-1 Cotton suddenly realizes that his fame has gone to his head
  • 5-3 Bob O'Link tries to lead Cotton away from his friends - to no avail
  • 5-6 Cotton discovers that his clarifications of his position never made it to the air. Bob O'Link disappears...
  • 5-8 Gene and CW did not question Cotton's broadcasts because they thought he could have disagreed at any time
  • 5-10 Cotton realizes he has been neglection Tavatiana as well - he corrects this oversight immediately
  • 5-13 Cotton apologizes for his neglect of Tavatiana
  • 5-15 Tavatiana suggests to Cotton that it his own personality that made him so vulnerable to manipulation
  • 5-17 Gene and CW let Cotton and Tavatiana be alone for awhile
  • 5-20 Bob O'Link, meanwhile, hasn't stopped fleeing yet
  • 5-22 Rennie explains, to the best of his knowledge, why Bob did what he did
  • 5-24 Cotton lets Gene and CW plan his next move
  • 5-27 The Mayor and his aides question Borzoi, the rogue repositor, who is scornful of the attempts to save the shadow people
  • 5-29 Borzoi was acting on his own when he staged the event at the Church of the Creator of All Things
  • 5-31 As Borzoi is given the chance to make his free phone call, he sees that it appears Cotton has been taken into custody!

    June 2002

  • 6-3 Bob O'Link, who can fly no further, is found by the shadow people
  • 6-5 Bob awakens to find himself surrounded by new friends
  • 6-7 Bob also discovers his new friends are difficult to lie to
  • 6-10 Cotton, who has played along with Gene and CW's plan, will now be told by the Mayor exactly what's going on
  • 6-12 The Mayor informs Cotton that the shadow people are, in fact, the species that humanity once called furries - the Animen!
  • 6-14 The Animen are, in fact, the species to which both furries and humans owe their self-awareness
  • 6-17 Cotton cannot believe that humans and furries have a common ancestor
  • 6-19 The Mayor explains how the Animen gave their genetic template to the world
  • 6-21 Cotton demands to know why the confusion about the Animen has been allowed to go on
  • 6-24 Bob O'Link is taken into the confidence of the Animen
  • 6-26 The Animen discover that Bob's health is poor and he is dying - but he seems not to mind
  • 6-28 Bob discovers that the Animen are doomed as well - and he isn't as complacent about their demise as his own

    July 2002

  • 7-1 Gene and CW enter the Mayor's office to brief Cotton further
  • 7-3 Cotton is told what it is about the Animen that makes them such a threat...
  • 7-5 ...and how they were able to be sucessfully hidden in the Furriston area
  • 7-8 Rennie Fox takes to the airwaves in Cotton's absence, and fields questions from the public...
  • 7-10 ...then promises to take the FURadio microphone to the public personally
  • 7-12 The station manager is surprised to see Rennie's ambition
  • 7-15 Cotton is about to express his opinions about the relationship between his ancestors and the Animen...
  • 7-17 ...when the ancestors appear to Cotton to explain it themselves.
  • 7-19 And Cotton does his best to explain it to Gene and CatsWhisker
  • 7-22 Rennie's fur-on-the-street show garners a plethora of opinions from both furries...
  • 7-24 ...and humans - as well as the relationship between the two.
  • 7-26 The station manager gets a phone call from someone that should not be calling a furry radio station
  • 7-29 Bob O'Link reveals that he has a plan to free the Animen!
  • 7-31 The Animen joyously prepare to depart

    August 2002

  • 8-2 As the sun sets, Bob is queried about his status with Cotton
  • 8-4 Cotton's ancestors spirit him away to prepare him for an encounter...
  • 8-7 ...that most people normally expeience only once. With the harbinger of Death...
  • 8-9 Cotton is made aware of his potential to affect the entire world!
  • 8-12 Cotton is overwhelmed by what he has just been told...
  • 8-14 ...but is willing to face his future...
  • 8-16 ...and is returned to the mortal plane.
  • 8-19 The Animen and Bob grow closer to Furriston... and with their approach, Lloyd is affected
  • 8-21 Lloyd explains the changes in his instinctive reactions to Alice
  • 8-23 Bob attempts to sneak the Animen into his apartment building, but their arrival has been forseen
  • 8-26 Rennie thinks Bob is hoping to use the Animen as a ploy to regain his fame
  • 8-28 Bev relates her experience with the Animen's elder mother
  • 8-30 Bob lets Rennie know that his plans are to protect the Animen, by his own tactics

    September 2002

  • 9-2 Cotton does not want to be left alone - Gene and CW stay with him
  • 9-4 Gene explains that his energy-scanning device has gained self-awareness and could be put to a new purpose
  • 9-6 Cotton is dismayed that Gene and CW have kept even more secrets from him, but they had good reason to
  • 9-9 Bob firrst finds he is out of cigarettes, and then finds someone else
  • 9-11 Bob speaks to the Elder Mother, and in doing so confronts a bit of his past
  • 9-13 The former past of Bob shows him where he went wrong
  • 9-16 Cotton puts the final pieces of the puzzle together, but can't believe that a repositor would go bad
  • 9-18 Cotton calls upon Tavie via SotS, but finds she has changed
  • 9-20 Something quite impossible has apparently happened...
  • 9-23 ...and Cotton is quite ecstatic about it!
  • 9-25 Cotton wants to know why Gene and CW didn't want him that he needed protection
  • 9-27 Gene and CW are astonished to learn that Cotton is planning to leave
  • 9-30 Tavatiana tells Cotton that he must stay

    October 2002

  • 10-2 But Cotton can't deal with all the changes that have been dumped on him
  • 10-4 Tavatiana explains why he must stay and fulfill the role he has been asked to play
  • 10-7 Cotton accepts the challenge...
  • 10-9 ...and lets Tavie return
  • 10-11 And then he lets Mr. Avariss know who his real adversary is
  • 10-14 Avariss immediately steps up his schedule
  • 10-16 Cotton is none too happy to have urged Avariss into action, but there was no other way...
  • 10-18 ...and Cotton now knows that ultimately Avariss will lose
  • 10-21 Meanwhile, Charlie Horowitz, out in the cold after fleeing the rescue mission, has a visitor
  • 10-23 Charlie tells of his reasons and his afflictions
  • 10-25 Charlie's friend helps him
  • 10-28 Charlie goes back to his friends at the mission
  • 10-30 Chalie dreams...

    November 2002

  • 11-1 Bob O'Link dreams...
  • 11-4 Michael Alan Avariss...
  • 11-6 Cotton and Tavatiana dream...
  • 11-8 Cotton gets to work
  • 11-11 Gene and CW never went home
  • 11-13 Even the tiny glitch of energy caused by CW and Gene connecting the equipment affect Cotton
  • 11-15 And the fact that it affected Cotton affected many other lives through him
  • 11-18 Those that were affected get moving...
  • 11-20 ...Bob O'Link, Charlie and Borzoi especially...
  • 11-22 ...while Cotton asks the Mayor to honor his promise to tell the truth
  • 11-25 Borzoi refuses to defer to Michael Alan Avariss
  • 11-27 Borzoi reveals that he had Charlie tagged for selection
  • 11-29 But Charlie has gone to see Cotton, who also senses the potential within him

    December 2002

  • 12-2 Avariss and Plebe make the self-aware sorter their unwilling slave
  • 12-4 Cotton awakens Charlie's potential, with Borzoi completely unaware
  • 12-6 Charlie tries to adjust himself to the newness of having the Sight of the Soul
  • 12-10 Out-of-canon image inserted while my domain name was being fixed. Nothing to see, move along.
  • 12-11 The loud bear tries to inform his friends of the impending event they have already sensed
  • 12-13 Dismayed at the ending of his importance once the event comes to pass, the loud bear is met by strangers
  • 12-16 Bev, Lloyd and Alice ask Bob O'Link if he'd like to join them at the event
  • 12-18 Charlie explains his life to his new friends - Cotton gets a phone call from Bob
  • 12-20 Cotton tells Bob that he is responsible for Avariss invading Furriston
  • 12-23 Bob, realizing what he has done, flies off to fulfil his own destiny
  • 12-25 Rennie Fox is the announcer at the event, when Bob does a flyover
  • 12-27 The crowd boos Bob, his manipulations of Cotton's radio speeches known now
  • 12-30 Bob is glad that his wrongdoings for Avariss have been discovered, and says so - on the air. With Avariss listening!
