  • 1-2 But Crendall (being Crendall) is singularly unimpressed... and handles it his own way.
  • 1-5 And with that, Gene, CW & co. take their best shot
  • 1-7 Their best shot does the job... almost. What of the eldest of the ancient Animen...?
  • 1-9 Or do we even want to know?
  • 1-12 Cotton seems to want to recuperate. Tavatiana seems to want to help him.
  • 1-14 Crendall sees he was wrong all along
  • 1-16 But the protectors of SotS-enabled humanity do not seem to have long to exist
  • 1-19 They were created by the ancient Animen before they devolved into their demented state
  • 1-21 Their function was to do the job that their creators, seeing that their minds were going, would fail to achieve
  • 1-23 With their purpose fulfilled, they vanish, leaving the future in the hands of those they protected.

  • 2-11 Crendall uses his own newly-discovered abilities...
  • 2-13 ...to his young charges' dismay
  • 2-16 Gene and CW decide they need a vacation
  • 2-18 And they decide the best place for it is Friendship Island
  • 2-20 Roger doesn't know if he wants to let Gene have time off
  • 2-23 Crendall lets his two wards know they WILL obey the rules...
  • 2-25 ...which they initally refuse to do...
  • 2-27 ...but finally realize they must.

    March 2004

  • 3-1 Mayor Clydesdale also tries to pull rank on Gene...
  • 3-3 ...but discovers that an angry Tech Master isn't what he wants
  • 3-5 Gene knew he'd have to use his ability that way sooner or later
  • 3-8 Meanwhile, the kids want Steven to play with them. He can't...
  • 3-10 ...because Rollie knows that Steven must take over his father's company
  • 3-12 And Steven, realizing Rollie is right, gets a very sneaky idea
  • 3-15 Steven quickly hooks up Crendall to assist him
  • 3-17 Steven also contacts Tavatiana, who is beginning to show
  • 3-19 Steven can't contact the felines - and the kids can't bluff Rollie
  • 3-22 Late that evening, Devon brings some visitors to Bev's restaurant
  • 3-24 Though adopted, Bev's daughter considers Bev her true mother
  • 3-26 Bev's daughter reveals the reason for her visit. Eubie hides in the car...
  • 3-29 ...and with good reason. Bev wants to turn himm into Nonexistant Bear
  • 3-31 But when Bev discovers what happened to him, she changes her mind

    April 2004

  • 4-2 Devon explains that Eubie is still in danger from the Furry Unity thugs
  • 4-5 Bev refuses to tolerate any threat to her daughter's fiance
  • 4-7 Bev gives Eubie sanctuary while Gene and CW head out on their vacation
  • 4-9 With the stages set, Part One comes to an end...
  • 4-12 ...and the adventures on Friendship Island begin
  • 4-14 They are greeted at the dock by their hosts, Burlington and Moonlight
  • 4-16 The skunks drive the felines to their house, followed by friendly birds
  • 4-19 Burlie and Moonlight are the island's contact with the rest of the world
  • 4-21 Gene and CatsWhisker waste no time in 'going native'
  • 4-23 Their hosts reveal the hazard of the Saber-Toothed Crotch Cricket
  • 4-26 But Gene and CW are more than a little dubious of their story
  • 4-28 And after Scruffy's warning, they give the story even less credibility
  • 4-30 CW warns Gene that perhaps he shouldn't drink the beverage just offered...

    May 2004

  • 5-3 ...too late. Catnip causes Gene to hallucinate badly
  • 5-5 Even to the point of inducing the Saber-Toothed Crotch Cricket into it
  • 5-7 Gene declines to drink any more of the beverage - it affects him badly
  • 5-10 Past failures still haunt Gene. But the mystery of the crickets is solved
  • 5-12 Their hosts want to take Gene and CW to see their volcano
  • 5-14 Gene mentions that he is looking for a certain type of place on the island
  • 5-17 Gene and CW experience the incredible sight of the island caldera
  • 5-19 On a paddlefruit farm they discover what real paddlefruit tastes like
  • 5-21 Gene sees the plume of steam rising from the hot springs
  • 5-24 At the hot springs, CatsWhisker presses Gene to reveal what he's looking for
  • 5-26 And boy, can CatsWhisker be persuasive when she puts her mind to it ^_^
  • 5-28 The felines discover that Moonlight can change the color of her fur
  • 5-31 As things continue to change back home, Gene and CW share some quality time

    June 2004

  • 6-2 The island residents want to know if their anonymous observers are still at work
  • 6-4 An artifact from World War II is found by one of the kotreeka birds
  • 6-7 CatsWhisker decides to investigate - and leaves Gene no choice but to join her
  • 6-9 In the caverns below the island, they discover a hidden city!
  • 6-11 Which Moonlight and Burlie expected them to find ^_^
  • 6-14 Gene identifies one of the aircraft observing the island...
  • 6-16 ...but in identifying it, he disrupts the aircraft's operation
  • 6-18 Whoever sent the spyjet destroyed it - upon Gene's identifying it
  • 6-21 Tavatiana takes advantage of Gene's SotS contact to ask a favor
  • 6-23 Tavie's pregnancy is starting to show - and she needs to mask it
  • 6-25 Two of Tavie's council members are dumbfounded to see Tavie 'normal'
  • 6-28 Gene hopes he can now get back to his vacation - nope, not quite
  • 6-30 Crendall needs help with his two wards - Gene calls upon Mandy

    July 2004

  • 7-2 Mandy wastes no time in messing with their minds
  • 7-5 NOW Gene believes he can really get back to vacation. Noooooo...
  • 7-7 Ian Harker offers Gene and CW a business proposition
  • 7-9 And at last the felines can get back to spending quality time together
  • 7-12 Burlie and Moonlight tell Gene and CW a little more about the amphibians
  • 7-14 But the more they are told, the more Gene wants to relax and enjoy vacation
  • 7-16 Hannah and Nebbie bring their guests a big basket of paddlefruit
  • 7-19 Burlie describes the, erm, unique way that paddlefruit fiber is created
  • 7-21 And the competetive event where the needed substance is, erm, provided *^_^*
  • 7-23 The event was meant to encourage the amphibians to come and be friendly
  • 7-26 Gene reveals that he and CW saw amphibian tracks on the beach
  • 7-28 The amphibians may no longer be apprehensive of being seen
  • 7-30 One of the amphibians waves to the Friendship Islanders

    August 2004

  • 8-2 Kotreeka birds love to play Frisbee
  • 8-4 The amphibians may have had any number of reasons to leave their city
  • 8-6 After the game, everybody relaxes on the beach
  • 8-9 Gene's scanner updates him on the news from back home
  • 8-11 The most important news is about a group called 'The Transgressioneers'
  • 8-13 Gene gives the scanner instructions about how to handle his reply
  • 8-16 An amphibian appears on the beach - but Gene and CW cannot reach his mind
  • 8-18 The amphibian species is not indigenous to Earth - their SotS is out of phase
  • 8-20 Gene gets his scanner to correct the problem - the communication barrier is gone
  • 8-23 In ancient Canovia, Tavatiana visits Cotton to tell him they will have a daughter
  • 8-25 Cotton tries to calculate how much lucky rabbit foot power their family will have
  • 8-27 Cotton hasn't yet fully recovered from his previous exploits
  • 8-30 Tavie reveals why she has so much trouble believing that she is beautiful

    September 2004

  • 9-1 Cotton suggests a way that Tavie might get the chance to live her own life
  • 9-3 The Old Buck and the Old Doe begin making a puppet exactly like Tavatiana
  • 9-6 Back on the island, now that the amphibians can talk, they make up for lost time
  • 9-8 The amphibians explain how their parent race adapts them to a new planet
  • 9-10 Hannah and Nebbie see the amphibians on the beach talking to Gene and CW
  • 9-13 Now Hannah understands what 'messages' the amphibians left for her
  • 9-15 The technology the amphibians brought to their world is what their foes are after
  • 9-17 But now their foes have encountered Gene - and that they may not want to do
  • 9-20 The moment Gene's scanner switches them back in phase, Charlie and Ramila call them
  • 9-22 The Transgessioneers have been busy - and so have Ramila and Charlie (in a different way)
  • 9-24 The felines can't imagine where Charlie and Ramila learned to do stuff O_O
  • 9-27 Gene lies awake thinking about the situation - until CW says 'go to sleep'
  • 9-29 Next morning finds Gene and CatsWhisker's bedroom full of kotreeka birds

    October 2004

  • 10-1 As the felines shower, the birds bathe too. And they new have guests downstairs
  • 10-4 In ancient Canovia, Tavatiana's doppelganger is coming into being
  • 10-6 In Furriston, Ed Cetera is forced to use his abilities to actually FIX problems
  • 10-8 At Bev's restaurant, Eubie is hiding from the Furry Unity thug who wants to hurt him
  • 10-11 On the island, Gene learns that the amphibian's skin dries out too quickly in sunlight
  • 10-13 The amphibians can write better than they can speak - they decribe the situation
  • 10-15 The amphibian city's building material is recombinant energy...
  • 10-18 ...and they are prepared to destroy their city if need be...
  • 10-20 ...for they know how dangerous it is to have their technology misused
  • 10-22 That morning, the amphibians depart from the beach to their new city
  • 10-25 In Furriston, Bev's daughter hesitates before defending Eubie in court...
  • 10-27 ...because no one but Bev knows she is her daughter. And Bev has her reasons
  • 10-29 But Bev's place has many secret passages - Eubie can use them to keep safe

    November 2004

  • 11-1 In ancient Canovia, Tavie's double takes her first wobbly steps
  • 11-3 The jailed Transgressioneer refuses to talk - and believes he won't have to
  • 11-5 Scruffy obtains scuba equipment for Gene and CW - from a certain someone
  • 11-8 Gene and CatsWhisker wait on the island for Scruffy to return...
  • 11-10 ...and Moonlight and Burlie tell them what new experiences await them
  • 11-12 Gene and CW notice that their hosts refer to the island as if it were alive
  • 11-15 The felines don their scuba gear - and the Transgressioneer is contacted...
  • 11-17 As Gene and CW swim out, Burlington detects radio interference from their gear
  • 11-19 Hannah cannot reach the felines - they are out of phase with her
  • 11-22 But the amphibians seem to know that something is wrong
  • 11-24 On the beach, the islanders see Gene and CW far out in the water
  • 11-26 Hannah moves at high speed in the water to rescue the felines
  • 11-29 Nebbie gets to braid CW's hair - Hannah gets to yell at Scruffy

    December 2004

  • 12-1 And yell at Scruffy she does. (Among other things)
  • 12-3 Gene and CW gave their scuba gear to the amphibians to get rid of
  • 12-6 They take the equipment into the Hidden Grotto - which is what their foe wanted
  • 12-8 As soon as the gear is placed there, a burst of noxious gas bursts forth!
  • 12-10 But... only from one of the sets of scuba gear... Gene's
  • 12-13 The Transgressioneer in Furriston believes that the attempt was a success
  • 12-15 He demonstrates his unusual abilities to his captors
  • 12-17 But Mayor Clydesdale has a few resourcesof his own to call upon
  • 12-20 Gene's scanner reveals that the attempt on Gene's life was thwarted...
  • 12-22 ...and the Transgressioneer's sneering attitude crumbles as well
  • 12-24 The disgruntled Transgressioneer resigns himself to his fate
  • 12-27 Gene interrupts Scruffy's punishment to ask him who rented him the scuba gear
  • 12-29 Gene thinks back to the time in his past when he first met Matt
  • 12-31 In school, Matt was extremely popular with the females
